A bungalow facing the sea
1. CHOOSE YOUR BEACH...

NORTH COAST:

Maenam, beautiful beach, long about 4 km and very quiet. Village of average importance, with its small shops, the market in the morning, and just a little animation.

Bophut, a very nice place, remained typical with beautiful wooden houses, a good atmosphere of fishermen's small village and its beach with a magnificent sight on the island of Koh Phan-Ngan. Certainly one of the quietest places of the island, excellent small restaurants directly on the beach, the ideal place if you look for rest and intimacy...

Big Buddha, also long beach, with its share of hotels, good to stay quiet and neither not far from Chaweng's animations, which is 10 minutes away by motorbike or car.

Small bungalows on Koh Tao

The sea level is quite low all year round, so not so favourable to the bathing.

Large hotel complex
EAST COAST:

Chaweng, the magnificent beach of the island, 7 km long, welcomes an upsetting choice of hotels and bungalows for all the budgets, it is the most lively beach and also the most frequented by the tourists. Numerous shops, restaurants and nightclubs. If you wish to be a little quieter but, in the same time, not far from infrastructures, Chaweng North or South are very interesting.

Lamai, its younger sister, very beautiful beach, second by the importance, the village is more concentrated, you will easily be able to make the tour of it by foot, restaurants, shopping and night-life, a whole program.
If you have a tight budget, there are some cheap bungalows in the south of Lamai, before Hinta Hinyai.

Beautiful sunset at Lipa Noi
WEST COAST:

Taling Ngam, Lipanoi and Nathon, this region is renowned for its magnificent sunsets, especially from Lipanoi, romantic atmosphere, ideal for the couples in search of intimacy and solitude, because of a long way enough from Lamai or Chaweng's night-animations. Very beautiful hotels line along this coast.

Nathon town is not really the place where one puts down his bag, but rather the main "city" of the island where are all the administrations and the big banks, also many shops. Ideal only if you have to take a boat very early in the morning, or by arriving in the evening.

2. ACCOMMODATION TYPES, DIFFERENCES IN PRICE...

Accommodation types

There is certainly an accommodation which will be convenient for you in Koh Samui. By way of the small wooden simple bungalow with ventilator on the beach to the big luxury hotel complex.

Hotels propose generally rooms, a little less expensive, or/and individual bungalows and some big hotels even have suites.

Good to know to choose well your accommodation according to your budget

Rates vary according to service, season and situation. A hotel possessing swimming pool, tennis court, gym will be more expensive than another establishment not proposing the same services.

There are 3 tourist seasons, high season (in January - February and July - August), low season and peak season, the most expensive, generally for the Songkhran holiday (mid-April) and for the holidays of the end of year.

If your budget is tight for example, choose rather a bungalow little set back from the beach, accommodations on the sea front are the most expensive.
